Inaugurated in 1868, it is a market brought from the old times, where fruits, vegetables and meats are auction. Today, the market maintains its beautiful European architecture, but has truly become famous due to the delicious barbecues people can eat at the parrillas there.
It is the biggest and most important plaza in Montevideo. It separated the “Old City” with downtown Montevideo, hosting the Gateway of the Citadel on one side and the start of 18 of July Avenue on the other.
Also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Montevideo, it is the main church in the country. From its original building, built in 1740, the church has overgone many alterations and reparations across XIX and XX century.
SARANDÍ PEDESTRIAN STREET
It is the main pedestrian street of the “Old City” of Montevideo and one of the hotspots most visited by tourists in the city. Many buildings of great architectural value can be found along this street, as well as art galleries, shops and stores.
It is also known as Antonio Montero´s House. The Romantic Museum is a trip to the past, which recalls the life, customs and taste of the high society of the XIX century of Montevideo
Also known as Constitución Plaza, it is the oldest plaza in the city and it was the main focal point of Montevideo in the colonial times. It is one of the places with most tourist movement and cultural spaces in the city.
PUNTA CARRETAS GOLF CLUB
Social and sports club in the city. Although golf is the main sport of the club, they also have pool, basketball, fencing, football, karate, rugby, swimming, among others, in addition to social activities.
